Catching small problems early saves you time, money, and discomfort. At The Dental Spa, our comprehensive dental exams and digital X-rays give you a complete picture of your oral health in a calm, welcoming environment you’ll actually look forward to.
You brush. You floss. You take care of yourself, and that matters enormously. But even the most diligent home routine can’t replace what a trained eye and diagnostic X-rays can reveal. Tooth decay, early gum disease, hairline cracks, and oral cancer often have no symptoms in their earliest stages. That’s exactly when they’re easiest (and least expensive) to treat.
The Academy of General Dentistry recommends a comprehensive dental exam twice a year for patients of all ages. At The Dental Spa, we use this visit to do far more than “check your teeth”; we look at the full picture of your oral wellness, because we know your mouth and your overall health are deeply connected. Whether you’re coming in as a new patient or returning for your twice-yearly checkup, you’ll leave with complete clarity about your smile, and a personalized plan to keep it healthy for years to come.
The Academy of General Dentistry recommends twice-yearly exams to catch most problems while they're still minor, and still manageable.
Your mouth can reveal early signals of diabetes, heart disease, and more.
Catching a cavity early means a small filling, not a root canal. The savings add up significantly over a lifetime
Using dental mirrors, explorers, and high-intensity lighting, your dentist examines every tooth surface for cracks, decay, discoloration, and signs of wear.
We check every tooth, including the hard-to-reach ones in the back, for cavities and early decay before it progresses to pain or infection.
We systematically examine the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, soft tissues, and gums for any unusual changes or early signs of oral cancer.
Your gums and the supporting bone structure are assessed for signs of gingivitis or periodontal disease, which can affect far more than just your smile.
Your dentist takes a whole-body wellness approach, reviewing how any new health conditions, medications, or lifestyle changes may be affecting your oral health.
Existing fillings, crowns, bridges, and other dental work are carefully evaluated to make sure they're holding up and functioning properly.
Show the upper and lower back teeth in a single view, revealing decay between teeth and changes in bone density — things invisible to the naked eye.
Taken every 3–5 years. Rotates around your head to capture a broad view of your entire mouth, jaw, sinuses, teeth roots, and bone levels all in one image.
Taken as needed. Focus on one or two specific teeth from crown to root, helpful for identifying abscess, infection, or root problems not visible on other films.
Even the most thorough visual exam can only show what’s visible on the surface. Dental X-rays reveal what’s happening beneath the gum line, between teeth, and inside the bone, problems that are invisible until they cause significant pain or damage.
At The Dental Spa, we use digital radiography, which delivers a clearer image with a fraction of the radiation of older X-ray technology. Our doctors review X-rays personally with you, explaining exactly what they see in plain language so you feel informed and in control of your own care.
X-rays help us catch hidden cavities early, monitor bone health, detect cysts or tumors, and track the development of teeth in younger patients. They are a core part of how we protect your long-term health.

The Academy of General Dentistry recommends a comprehensive dental exam twice a year — once every six months, for patients of all ages. Most people find this frequency is just right for catching problems early while they’re still small.
For X-rays, bitewing X-rays are typically taken once a year, while a full panoramic X-ray is recommended every three to five years. Your doctor may adjust this schedule based on your individual risk factors and oral health history. If you’re a new patient, we’ll take a baseline set of X-rays at your first visit, so we have a complete picture to build from.
This is one of the questions we hear most often, and the answer is reassuring. At The Dental Spa, we use digital radiography, which delivers up to 80% less radiation than traditional film X-rays. The dose from a full set of dental X-rays is extremely low, comparable to the background radiation you’d receive during a short airplane flight.
Much more. A comprehensive dental exam at The Dental Spa includes a visual examination of every tooth surface, a check for cracked or worn teeth, an assessment of your gums and bone structure for signs of periodontal disease, a complete oral cancer screening of your lips, tongue, throat, face, and neck, a review of any existing restorations (fillings, crowns, bridges), and a discussion of your medical history, because your overall health directly affects your oral health.
Absolutely. We welcome patients of all ages at The Dental Spa, and we believe that building great dental habits starts early. Children benefit from regular exams just as much as adults. We can monitor the development of their teeth, catch issues before they affect permanent teeth, and help them become comfortable with dental care in a warm, welcoming environment.
